For some reason this week there were many conversations on my assignments about being a Mainer, and what that's like. I'm pretty sure my entire family history, generations and generations, are born and raised Mainers. So the way I look at lobster buoys, or the ocean, or the mountains and Maine woods, is just a bit different from someone coming here with fresh eyes. To me, it's what I've always known, but I also hope my images of Maine evoke a warm, intimate, rough, and timeless feeling. Because that's what Maine is to me.
